AFK was founded in 2017 by a team that had been working together for some time. Before that, all team members gained experience in the renewable energy sector in their own discipline. All together over 30 years of relevant background explain our professional and result driven approach.
With a focus on PV and biomass, AFK is reinforcing its position on the South African renewable energy space. The objective is to move on to other countries on the continent.
Mr. Martin Meijers, co founder and CEO
Martin Meijers (1965) has a background in Material Science & Engineering (Delft University, Netherlands) and has been active in solar PV development for over 10 years. After successfully developing large scale PV projects in Italy between 2008 and 2011 for Enfinity NV, he has been developing business in emerging markets, ultimately on the African Continent. With his SA team he started AFK renewable Energy as an independent RE developer/consultant.
Mrs. Joanne Dean, COO
“Jo” Dean (1966) has degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Sustainability and a Masters in Carbon Reduction. She has over 10 years of experience in renewable energy project development (W2E, Biomass, Solar). Her expertise and vision is known to both public and private entities in the sector. Jo Dean is chairwoman of SAPVIA and has strong personal relationships with decision makers in all related entities and consults the DOE.
Mr. Francois Paul Naude, co founder and CFO
“Raan” Naude (1970) is the former CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Bloemfontein. Raan has excellent contacts with many land owners in the zone and is expert in all administrative processes regarding Renewable Energy project development. Raan Naude manages contracts, keeps (SPV) administrations and monitors planning and execution.
Mr. Anveer Chanderman, Technical Advisor
Anveer Chanderman (1988) holds degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (University of kwaZulu Natal and University of Pretoria). He has worked in the PV industry in all project phases from feasibility through to operation and maintenance. He has experience in design, engineering and project management of large utility scale PV plants and is our technical reference point for preliminary design and engineering for utility scale plants. Anveer is an experienced rooftop PV engineer.
